제목	104. 무명의 용사들

내용	104. 삼하23:8-23 <무명의 용사들> 조다윗 선교사 우리가 익히 알고 있는 다윗 왕국의 가장 유력한 장군들은 요압과 브나야, 아비새 등이 있다. 이들은 항상 다윗 군대에서도 요직을 맡아 전군을 통솔하는 영예를 누렸고, 이스라엘과 하나님 나라에 충성한 흔적이 있기에 그에 합당한 하늘에서의 영광을 얻었을 것이다. 그러나 이들이 평생 이스라엘에서 누린 최고의 지위와 독보적인 입지와는 상관없이, 말씀이 이들보다 더 큰 존귀와 영예를 주고 있는 무명의 용사들이 있다. 다윗조차 위화감을 느낄 만큼 남들보다 우위에 선 입지를 추구하고 자기 명예를 중시했던 요압보다, 무명의 세 용사 아디노, 엘르아살, 삼마는 다윗의 모든 용사 중 가장 앞선 영광과 영예로운 이름으로 성경에 등장한다. 군대장관과 호위대장의 요직을 거친 요압과 아비새, 브나야의 세 용사로서의 위용도 크지만, 성경은 무명의 용사 아디노, 엘르아살, 삼마보다 더 큰 명예와 존귀를 주기를 허락하지 않는다. 성경에서는 상대적으로 잘 알려지지 않은 이 무명의 세 용사를 요압과 아비새, 브나야보다 항상 앞세워 서술하고 있다. 그렇다면, 이들은 말씀이 다윗의 그 어떤 용사들보다 가장 큰 위용과 존귀를 공증하고 있음에도 왜 다윗의 군대에서 요직과 합당한 서열의 지위를 누리지 못한 것일까? 이들은 그야말로 알려지지 않은 용사로 군대 장관이나 호위대장은커녕 일반 대장으로도 임명된 적이 없어 보인다. 이들이 자기 입지에 민감했던 요압처럼 정치적이지 않았기 때문일까? 물론 그런 면도 있을 수 있겠지만, 이들의 충정이 너무 고결해 절대 열세의 전쟁도 마다하지 않았기 때문은 아니었을까? 큰 용사의 위용으로 전쟁의 국면을 역전시켜 다윗의 군대를 승리로 이끈바, 가장 어려운 전쟁에서 가장 먼저 순교했을 가능성이 크다고 볼 수 있다. 충성스러운 사람은 목숨을 내어 놓기를 마다하지 않으며, 그렇기에 가장 먼저 죽는 법이다. 자기 입지보다도, 사람들이 부러워하는 명예보다도 하나님 나라와 주님을 위해 목숨까지 내어 놓는 하나님의 사람으로 드려져 하나님이 직접 주시는 영원한 천국의 존귀와 영예만을 얻기 원한다. 향유옥합을 깨뜨린 마리아처럼, 예수님께만 드리는 일이 심지어 모든 사람에게 인정받지 못한다 해도, 천국에서 하나님의 존귀와 영예만을 얻는다면 그것으로 이미 충분하다. 104. Samuel 23.8-23 <Nameless Warriors> Among famous warriors of David’s army, the mightiest were Joab, Benaiah, Abishai and a few more of others. These warriors held important positions in the army and were honored of commanding over numerous soldiers. It seems obvious that these men deserved the glory of heaven, as there are evidences to be found of their loyalty towards Israel and the kingdom of heaven. However, regardless of their unparalleled positions and ranks privileged to them in Israel, there were those nameless warriors who received even greater honor and glory, according to the Word. While Joab made even David feel uncomfortable with his self-righteousness, putting his fame on top of others’, the three nameless warriors Adino, Eleazar, and Shammah appear as the most honorable and glorious warriors in the scriptures. Although, we see that Joab have been appointed to many key positions in David’s army, from the General to the captain of the king’s bodyguards, and showed equally impressive careers as Abishai and Benaiah, the scriptures do not allow them to have greater honor than the nameless warriors Adino, Eleazar, and Shammah. The nameless warriors are always put before Joab, Abishai and Benaiah in the Holy Bible. Then, why were these three warriors not given the appropriate ranks and positions in the army of David, accordingly as approved by the scriptures? Truly, these are warriors who didn’t receive any spotlights, nor seemed to be appointed as Generals, bodyguards, or even positions as commanding leaders. Was this because these warriors did not have the political mind sets that of Joab who was sensitive about his status? While this may be one possibility, there were greater chances that they might have been the firsts to be martyred in the fiercest battles, overturning all obstacles into victories despite the dire situations they might have undergone, as they were the most loyal of all the soldiers. The loyal ones are not afraid to lose their lives, and they are the firsts to die. More than we wish for ranks, positions and honors this world can ever give, I hope that we are counted by God as the people who gave our lives for Him and His kingdom, so that we may have eternal glory and honor given by God Himself. Even though people do not recognize us for what we do for Jesus, as Maria who broke her alabaster and gave everything she had for Jesus, was not recognized by the people, we can be satisfied fully for we would receive the glory and honor of heaven as we enter His Kingdom.
